To put my money where my foot is, Quizmaster Tim, I say: Ringo Starr. Just kidding to instigate the guesses of the more competent bloggies here.

Yes, it was not Starr, shine-on-heinz. But it is a star drummer nonetheless. Yes drummer Alan White, one of rock’s all-time greatest drummers …Rather that give a roundabout description of how great he was, hear how great he was here on this 70’s rock classic:
And he still shines on.

I get zero credit for knowing any of this, but according to ye olde Google machine … Alan White (whom I’d never heard of) played the drums on Imagine, Instant Karma, and the All Things Must Pass album. When I searched “Alan White” and flynn, the results showed that he had been in a relationship with Rory way back when. No idea about one of the coolest drum parts in history.

Yes, Barb, it’s no other than Yes drummer, Alan White, pictured above with Errol’s beloved Rory. He played with both John Lennon and George Harrison during their early solo work beginning 50 years ago. His drumming on Instant Karma is very highly regarded.
