Travels

24 May

Heading to Saint Augustine and Savannah next sunday.

Was Errol ever in any of those two cities? If not where in FL and GA?

Selene – I have no evidence establishing that Errol ever traveled to or through either Savannah or St. Augustine, though the Sirocco likely did via the Atlantic Intracoastal Waterway in 1938, on its maiden voyage from Boston to Los Angeles.

In St. Augustine, however, you may be able to see very notable collectibles at the Pirate Museum, including from Captain Blood and The Sea Hawk.

In Georgia, it may be of interest to you to see some of the Atlanta-area locations where The Last of Robin Hood was filmed, including the Fox Theater, the mansion at Callonwolde Fine Arts Center, Charlie Brown Field at Fulton County Airport, and Sherwood Forest in Midtown.

Regarding other parts of Florida, Errol traveled frequently and extensively through Southeast Florida, including most often in and around Miami, Palm Beach, and Boca Raton. Here are some EFB posts documenting his visits to Florida:

Thank you! Guess we are going to be stuck in Saint Augustine this time and maybe near Fort Lauderdale.
Would love to hit or see all the places he went to

Your welcome Selene. In St. Augustine I highly recommend the Pirate Museum.

Visit to Saint Augustine Pirate & Treasure Museum!

In and around Ft. Lauderdale, there are numerous sites that might interest you. Just north of Ft. Lauderdale is Lighthouse Point, where you can eat where Errol ate (drank and gambled.) Boca Raton and Delray Beach were among his favorite spots in FLA, too. Further north is Palm Beach, where he went multiple times, from the 30s through the 50s. Even filmed a Robin Hood film with the hoi polloi there. South is Miami, which, after NYC, probably his most frequent haunt on the East Coast.

Additionally, in addition to the Everglades Club, he also went to the Everglades.
