    Amazon has not stated anything about the contents (unless I overlooked it?), but I found this: coverout.com…
    Is anything known about the author? It sounds interesting, but will there be new information except for the pictures?

      James is a friend of the Blog, and is in contact with me. If you click the Amazon link or the photo of his book cover you can see the book on Amazon and under it is a selection of pics including the back cover which has some information on it!

      Inga, good afternoon, thanks for your interest in the book, and the author. I grew up in NYC, was a great athlete, all sports, even mastered Jai-Alai which is very difficult to learn. As far as movies are concerned I always found time between sporting events to see almost every movie that was released in the Golden Age of Hollywood. My mom, who worked at Columbia Pictures in New York also helped me to appreciate the art of motion pictures. The Adventures of Robin Hood, which I saw in a re-release in the early 50’s, made me an instant fan of Errol. The book is not a biography, it is about Errol’s acting ability, his way of truely becoming each and every character he was cast in. Hopefully, no let’s say definitely Errol will receive an Oscar for his contributions to the motion picture industry. An Oscar Errol deserves for his complete body of work. An Oscar for his lifetime of achievement as a consumate professional. The book contains not one, negative word regarding Errol or his life. I mentioned to David, if Errol was still alive and he received a copy of “The Quest”, I know he would smile and say, thanks, Jim. I will add to this when the book is released and thank you Inga for your inquiry.

    Regarding the title of James Turiello’s new book on Errol, “The Quest for an Oscar,” didn’t Rory Flynn mention on her Web site “In Like Flynn” that Errol would not be recognized or receiving an Oscar for his body of work? I think that there was a campaign not too long ago which was not successful to have the Academy recognize Errol with a special award. Lynn

      That is correct, however the Academy has many new members since the previous members did not recognize Errol. They have also added several new categories as well. I plan to contact many influential individuals in the movie and TV industry as well as get Errol on as many magazine covers as possible. To date I have three magazines that will feature Errol on the cover, as well as a story on the inside. I also have several more that I am wait to hear back from. The book hopefully will help gain a new legion of fans that will also want to see Errol recognized. In a seperate post I will be on the radio, tonight April 27th from 8:05PM to 9:00PM. Errol will get his Oscar, because he truely deserves one.

    Hello Jim, thank you for your profound and interesting answer. I read it, David will approve it soon, but I thought I would answer before being off to bed (time difference…).
    Two questions/remarks for the moment:
    – I thought it was not possible that a late actor gets an Oscar? You make it sound as if the rules have been changed?
    – I’m really curious to read your acting ability analysis. I think that this is a… don’t wanna say, dangerous, but kind of risky enterprise. I’m curious to find out how you managed. You know, each of us has a different opinion of what “good acting” is, mine, for example, differs often from the mainstream opinion. I believe that this aspect is a VERY personal one, so… I hope you get my point. This is not criticism, just skepticism as it is an extremely delicate subject.

    And finally: could you give details about the photo with which you introduced yourself, please? I accidentally found a similar one which stated that it was in Italy, same suit…

      I was away in a place Errol would have loved.
      The rules are always flexable, and new people can be influenced in many different ways. My goal is to have Errol’s movie career recognized for what it gave to his fans, as well as the entire era of Hollywood in general.
      My acting ability analysis is not risky it is like every other analysis of movies or actors. For instance Siskell and Ebert at their height were revered as the end all of movie critics. They were only voicing their evaluations of movies, right or wrong people must make their own decisions. That’s what I did in my book, gave my evaluations, some you may agree with and some you may disagree with. Hopefully, I was correct in most of my findings. More important let’s all strive to get that Oscar, I hope you agree it is long, long, long overdue.

      The book is not a biography, it is an evaluation of Errol’s performances. It also deals with what it was like to see movies in the 50’s in New York City, movie palaces. On another note I believe it is the only book ever written about Errol Flynn that looks at the man he truely was. It is a book that puts the focus on his positive attributes and his unique gift of acting so effortlessly. Errol would have really enjoyed it.

        That is a high claim, “the only book about Errol that looks at the man he truly was”… so you say that Earl Conrad did not look at Errol as he really was? Or Tom McNulty? Or Nora Eddington?
