It is still a mystery to me, why Russell Mulcahy wouldn`t give the lead of his “In like Flynn” movie to Luke No Fluke.

Flynn fans have this illusion that Luke looks like Errol and he doesn’t. He is a good-looking kid and he looks more like his mother Arnella and his father Karl Stoecker, his father Karl was a rugged-looking young man also. Both grandsons resemble their mothers, most sons look like their mothers. Their name FLYNN is only their stage name and it hasn’t helped them in Hollywood.
What I read about IN LIKE FLYNN the movie was that Luke spent years and years trying to raise the 3 million to star in the film since he was the owner of the ‘rights’ to BEAMS END. Somehow Mulcahy got involved, brought in the funding through distribution, which is the only way these films get funded and they had to use a ‘name’ actor who from what I saw of the clips of the film, should have been put back into the oblivion it came out of. Who knows if Luke is even a half-decent actor to handle a drama and play the complex personality of his grandfather Errol Flynn who he never met. Luke got a credit on the film it’s better than nothing, but since it wasn’t that good, Mulcahy wasn’t the director to cast the right actor and capture the essence of a young wild Errol Flynn and it was all in the BOOK!!!

Aussie director Russell Mulcahy had the midas touch when filming Highlander. In like Flynn must be a big disappointment for him too. Luke even with advertising acting experience only couldn‘t possibly have done any worse. Worse still is Flynn the Movie- despite Guy Pearce (LA Confidential) in the lead I had to switch off almost immediately.
