Purrfect Voice for Radio

20 Dec

Dear Flynnstones,

see Errol prepare his lines with host Conrad Nagel for the program „For richer, for richer“ on the CBS Silver Theatre show dated Dec. 7 1941.

Enjoy,

Sadly Louis, one of the lost ones (owing to bombing of Pearl Harbor on the same day).

    Here are more particulars:

    Series: “Silver Theater”

CBS INTERNATIONAL SILVER COMPANY Sundays 6:00 – 6:30pm

    HOST / DIRECTOR: Conrad Nagel

    MUSIC: Felix Mills

    ANNOUNCER: John Conte

“FOR RICHER, FOR RICHER” Program # 9 for 1941 12-07-41 :30:00 Errol Flynn, Cliff Arquette (Charlie Weaver of TV fame). Show of 11-30 Pre-Empted. Buster Wiles mentions being present during the broadcast of this particular program in his book.

NOTE: For Richer–For Richer, a comedy about a fortune hunter — or so we’re led to believe . The play originally starred Clark Gable ( Silver Theatre Show , For Richer–for Richer, Program #10 for 1939, “Dec 10, 1939”) as Chris Morgan, an egotistical, insensitive jerk who attempts to elope with a wealthy young woman named Susan Turner, not for love, but for her money. That is, until he is thwarted in his plans by Susan’s sister Peggy.

If interested in what the broadcast would have been like:

SAME (Gable) script used for the Flynn program as one Silver Theater log site notes.
