Thank you for posting that link & great photo, David. I’m still on the road, without much opportunity for proper posting. But I have had the good fortune to do some further investigation into some more of Errol’s travels. His time in New Orleans was most interesting! … People actually cheered him in the streets when he was here. And he was quite popular elsewhere also!!

They Died with Their Boots On is Hollywood at its summit. A true masterpiece. Errol & Olivia
are especially astonishing. So much so, they inspired Max Steiner to write one of the greatest romantic themes in film history.

I believe this role was perfect for Errol, and Errol for it. Like Custer, Errol, though sometimes flamboyant and flawed, was supremely gifted, with an immense love for living life to its fullest. And, just as Little Big Horn proved not to be the last we heard of Custer, Errol’s early death did nothing to undermine his own immortality.

How could such a great movie fail to get the multiple nominations it so clearly deserved? Only goes to prove that poor judgement and prejudice is nothing new to the Academy. Fortunately for Errol, and all of us, Errol was far more than a movie star. Tinsel Town was just one stop on his astonishing Odyssey.
