    I like that they focused on those two relationships: Barrymore and Niven. Errol shows such genuine affection for Barrymore in that photo of the two of them. But I never understood the story of Flynn meeting Barrymore at MGM while attempting to audition for “Romeo and Juliet”. Errol was a contract player at Warner Bros. I find it hard to believe that he could walk onto a competitor’s lot and audition. I’m aware it’s in his autobiography but so is his story about the young actor being impaled by a sword during the filming of “Charge of the Light Brigade”. It actually happened on “They Died With Their Boots On”. So maybe Errol’s memory was a little foggy when relating this first meeting.       You’re right, Zacal, it does seem unusual that Warners might allow Captain Blood to do a film for a rival studio. But I do think it’s possible, perhaps even more so because Blood’s nemesis, Basil Rathbone, also a WB contract star I think, got the role of Juliet’s cousin Tybalt in the same film. …. In fact, despite Sir Guy Rathbone’s superb fencing skills, I’ve read that the only time he won a duel on film was in Barrymore’s Romeo & Juliet. After that Oscar nominated role, it was back with Warners as Sir Guy, in which Errol very famously again did him in. … So maybe Errol had it right. …. Or maybe The Baron really met The Profile while they were both out carousing about – perhaps a more likely scenario for those two!

      As Errol may have felt when forced to briefly summarize his absolutely astonishing life in Wicked, Wicked Ways: Si non e vero e ben travato!
