While watching the movie I was thinking or dreaming really.
I just love this film and even though some of the humor is old fashioned by today’s standards it holds up quite well. The image here is just so fantastic you almost want to be there with them staring down death in the face. How cool is it to be in a Nazi train like they are. I also like the scene with them lurking and hiding in the swamps. I would love to see what they could do with the film today with some CGI and modern day colorizing and at the very least a Blu Ray worthy restoration.
The model work is really good but needs a bit of work here and there. This is only suggested for a jaded audience that is used to seeing things like part of California sliding in to the Pacific. If I had the money I would do it myself and the product would include my special version plus an as is restoration for the purists. It has worked for Paramount with the original Star Trek series in that you can see the restored show as is or with up to date CGI special effects. I am being naive but like I said I was dreaming.

I love this film too,it is just non stop. There are also some very funny moments in it.The car chase near the end is fantastic, even though I know they make it I always find myself saying ‘ hurry! hurry!’ .Plus there is that great scene near the start when they are teasing Errol’s character with jokes about kangaroos etc and then he starts singing Waltzing Matlida,I like that scene, and Errol’s last line is a classic – “Now for Australia and a crack at the Japs” .I just recently loaned my copy to my brother to watch as he is having fun watching Errol’s movies too. :)

What I like most about this movie is that the German town of Luckenwalde is mentioned by Errol himself, and this town is just 30 minutes away from me! :-)

The Gipper was a Nazi, too? Can’t wait for Chuckie Pigham’s liography on him.

Gipper was so dull on screen, unlike our vivid Errol. Let’s face it he just didn’t have what takes to be a star. That’s why he ended becoming a president.

Ha! Well, at least it wasn’t a boring presidency!
I liked him (and Errol’s girl, Annie!) very much in King’s Row. And (knowing not to be over enthused over a Soviet dictator with a map of Albania on his forehead) he sure did give Errol a wonderful compliment to Errol at the expense of Gorby!!

Well, what I said above meant to be funny. No intention to belittle our president, especially if he showed respect to my idol (Did I say I am a VERY LOYAL fan?).

I remember when he said that. Thanks for the link. I don’t really know how it will end up in history but I always liked Reagan and voted for him both times. What a way for someone to go with Alzheimer’s disease. It is clear what a sharp mind he had and in the film he gives a performance talking gibberish that’s unbelievable.

Please read the comment guidelines. These comments are on the edge of the no political views rule unless Errol is involved. :-)

I just watched the trailer that is included on the DVD and the part that says “attack!” is deleted just like Rudy and Tony’s book says but they make is sound like the entire sentence was removed but it was only the word attack. The line is “they know but one command, attack!” This was because of the rape trial and the fact that audiences laughed at that line. It was a bigger hit because of the scandal according to “The Films Of Errol Flynn”. I would love to get my copy autographed. Rudy if you are reading this…………

I am trying to find a photo of the bomber used in the film and I cant find one that looks just like it. Do you think the model makers modified it? It is supposed to be a American bomber but used by the RAF. I would love to get a model of it some day.
