Just finished watching Dive Bomber which I started last night. Its just amazing the photography and this one is a must for a Blu Ray restoration. I don’t think there is another film like it that has shots like this film. Other than the obvious close ups its all real.

Absolutely, tw! Sensational filming in Dive Bomber!! Brought Technicolor to new heights, in my old stomping grounds. Look closely and you might see the Sirocco in Coronado’s Glorietta Bay.

BTW, tw, other than seeing Erroll as Hood & Blood & Hawk, et al, on TV, one of the very first stories I heard about The Great Flynn was from an uncle of mine who was stationed as a sailor in San Diego during WWII. He told me that Errol once gave a ship of sailors the biggest kick when he dove off a boat. I don’t know what boat, ship or circumstances (and my uncle has long passed) but, whatever Flynn did. my uncle said the sailors were mightily impressed. I have learned since and independently that Errol used to dive quite superbly from the Hotel Del Coronado diving board(s) during that same late 30s/early 40s time frame. I guess Objective Burma is his best war film and his performance is also his best. This is an objective opinion because I think Desperate Journey is my favorite War film. I have not watched Dawn Patrol as much but that may be his best performance as well, I would have to watch it again to really compare.
