Errol may have been “beyond the compass”, but search continues … Maybe we can “triangulate” his “octagonal philosophy”? How – without using any circular reasoning, of course – would you describe Errol’s view of life? One thing for sure: He was no square.

    I want that book!

    I love reading Errol’s thoughts & quotes,he definitely lived his life his way,and never seemed to take anything too seriously,he’s very funny too.I think overall that’s a good way to be. :)

      You’re so right, Lollie. Errol had such a wonderful sense of humor. That was probably a major part of his charm, right?

      P.S. The author – “Neural Surfer” David Christopher Lane – seems to be a very interesting character, too. A professor of philosophy, who also won some World Body Surfing championships!

    Well he was a lot deeper than people gave him credit for
    and he knew himself extremely well. Definitley a free spirit
    and had a very well developed sense of humour, a very three dimensional character with all the contridictions present and thriving. I can also see how a person who thinks about things so deeply would be hurt by how “the world” percieved him, so he just let the world go on thinking he was a shallow playboy. He was so much more. I know we all say and think what a tragedy he died so young but old age was never for flynn. Question would he be the legend he is today if he had lived to a ripe old age? By the way great post different and so many things to discuss from it, thanks for sharing.

    I like very much you’re expanding the octagon into three dimensions!!! Very true. Likely even five dimensions with Flynn!!!!!

    I think Errol knew at some level that a future world would someday recognize, appreciate & celebrate his unique greatness & contributions more fully.
