A ship trip to Lionheart`s lament

My dear fellow Flynn fans,

I went on a cruise on the beautiful blue Danube River from Vienna up to Dürnstein, where King Richard unwillingly had to spend his winter holiday of 1193.

Here is the prelude to “The adventures of Robin Hood”: en.wikipedia.org…

All I can say is that there are worse places to be stuck and  I wonder if that high ransom  indeed was a hefty unpaid wine bill.

Enjoy,

Thanks for that awesome post, lowenheinz, aka dayshipper. I heard through the grapevine that that wine bill came to about 30 tons of silver & gold – with all but a sliver for Leopold. I’m not sure how many Euros that comes to, but today Ricky L. could pay the Austries in his own commemorative coins:

Is that your ship cruising into town, dayshipper?

      Dear untamable Tim,
if I had been born much sooner,
I would have set foot on a schooner.
      Instead, and I quote,
      “I was travelling by steamboat”.
Now tell me does a steamer,
      makes one a daydreamer?

You’re a poet, adventurer & a scholar, rhymeheinz. Flynn would be proud.

BTW, any word on the Danube (or the YouTube) whether what the real story was on Blondel, Coeur de Lione’s crusading troubadour. Was he portrayed in the ’39 film? Any relation to Errol’s buddy Joan?

        Have fun, thaiheinz!

Errol’s popular there, too, I believe. Maybe you can see a Flynn double feature while in Bangkok.

No matter how easy you make it, humorheinz, you are not going to get me to make any jokes about that oversized organ. I just hope your post was purely kimballistic, not symbolistic.

            It’s 5 o’clock somewhere.
