Hmm and today marks 100 years since the beginning of the 1st world war which made me think of Dawn Patrol. Am I close?

Being it’s the Centennial Anniversary of The War to End All Wars, it’s Dawn Patrol!! The movie fared much better than the War’s original slogan.
Can you name the actor and leading lady??

Ok- Just a lucky guess as, even though this anniversary has been in the news, it still took me awhile to make the connection! My great uncle died in that war at the age of 18.
Now I am stumped and I refuse to use google to search. Does anyone else have the answers?

The (7th & last) Earl of Warwick is seated between Marlene Dietrich & Cary Grant. The stage (sur)name adopted by the Earl is very similar to that of cutey-pie Phyllis Brooks, who Cary seems to be quite enthralled with, if not Marlene.

Thanks Tim – it was supposed to be over by Christmas so they said.
This is one of my Flynn-Faves because of his youth and honesty in that role.
Hmmm..leading lady. Well there were no female characters in the movie so would it be the “Dawn”? Any closer?

… No wonder Errol got so mad in the movie sometimes! No women!! And sometimes only Rathbone!

^ lol,yes.No women in the movie,I’d never realised that,I wonder would that be the only one of Errol’s movies without a woman in it?
I just recently re watched Dawn Patrol again,it is such a terrific film from beginning to end.It is a perfect example of just how natural & extremely talented an actor Errol is,So believable. :)

I agree, Lollie. Great, important film. Really shows how deeply scarred and wary of war “The Great War” left the “Lost Generation” – even as Hitler was threatening all of Europe Errol’s terrific in it. Confirms his talent & versatility – even with no women around! War is hell!
