ERROL LIVES!

25 May

David’s outcry made me think! Much as morbid curiosity may go, I too would rather not see Errol that way! So if I may be indulged, I would like to share two of my favorite photos.
In the studio publicity shot showing the more mature Errol, he kind of reminds me of my father. (At least how I remember him.) (In the words of the American musical group from “Motown Records”, the Temptations, “Papa was a rolling stone!” Sort of like Errol was to Sean.) ( Those who are familiar with the Temptations’ recording, might agree.)
Any way I hope you enjoy and let’s remember, “They died with their boots on!”–A. R.

REMEMBERING SEAN LESLIE FLYNN

06 Apr

It was 42 years ago today that Errol Flynn’s only legitimate son, Sean was captured by enemy factions in Cambodia and never heard from again. Still to this day his final fate remains a mystery. We can be sure that he has joined his dad and they are off on that “most  final of  adventures” together.–A. R.. Read the rest of this entry »

THE FORGOTTEN FILMS OF SEAN FLYNN, SON OF ERROL FLYNN

06 Oct

Here is something I thought might be of interest to some of you. The magazine, “FilmFax” is featuring in its 128th issue (Summer/Fall 2011 issue) an article about the films of Errol's son, Sean who made a few films in Europe before becoming a war correspondent during the Viet Nam war and ending up MIA in Cambodia in 1970. While not as charismatic an actor as his father, Sean still had the Flynn flair. The article is written by yours truly. The magazine can be purchased in book stores such as: Barnes & Nobles, or purchased on-line at different websites or the magazine's own website: www.filmfax.com…. I hope you give the article a look and read, I think you might find it interesting. Thank you.–A. R.

HAPPY BIRTHDAY, BASIL RATHBONE

13 Jun

Today I would like to commemorate the birthday of Errol's most valued adversary. I speak of none other than “Captain Levasseur”, “Sir Guy of Gisbourne” and the seemingly heartless commander of the “Dawn Patrol”. Someone who always gave Errol a good workout. So let's all raise a cask of ale to a fellow Gemini of Errol's (born June 13, 1892), Sir Basil Rathbone! [TCM is also paying tribute today to Sir Basil.]
