Yes, people of Hobart it was! Never-the-less it is a very nice gesture to name the beach or an area of it after our beloved Australian! After all this Australian was not just loved by one nation he was loved around this globe of ours! This privilege is only reserved for few people, but then he was a Sunday's child! Best ever export of Tasmania!

A dog is playing in the water in which Errol first wet his little tootsies and never stopped wetting them!
This beach is Sandy Bay with Battery Point in the background.
Quoting Errol: A beach, Sandy Bay, was not far away and I was often there, swimming at the age of three.
To honor Errol a part of this beach or all of it – I am not sure – is now called “Errol Flynn Reserve”, as you see it in the next picture. Enjoy!
